Five Day Nature Retreat  at Ranch of The Rockies home in Hartsel, CO

This retreat will use the surrounding nature and quiet as inspiration for creating art in a unique way.   Every morning will be spent in quiet reflection. As we explore the rocks and flat lands, , we will be drawing, writing, talking, singing, journaling …  (for those who are unable to walk or hike, there is a covered deck for a time of solitude). We will meet together for a discussion of our experiences and how to interpret that experience into visual art on various fiber. After lunch, each student will work on learning techniques to express their experiences.

Five Day Nature Retreat  at Ranch of The Rockies home in Hartsel, CO

This retreat will use the surrounding nature and quiet as inspiration for creating art in a unique way.   Every morning will be spent in quiet reflection. As we explore the rocks and flat lands, , we will be drawing, writing, talking, singing, journaling …  (for those who are unable to walk or hike, there is a covered deck for a time of solitude). We will meet together for a discussion of our experiences and how to interpret that experience into visual art on various fiber. After lunch, each student will work on learning techniques to express their experiences.
The tools available will be (but not limited to):
Painting, Dyeing, Eco-Dyeing,  Deconstruct  silk screen dyeing, Soy Wax batik, Marbling, Hand Stitching, Journaling
Every evening, the students will have quiet time, spent in reflective hand stitching
All food will be provided:
Breakfast and lunch food will be supplied for students to prepare their own meals
Breakfast food
Lunch – soup, sandwiches and salads
Dinner will be catered.
Meals will accommodate dietary restrictions
Students will arrive on Sunday afternoon/evening
Classes will be held Monday-Friday – 9-5
Departure time on Saturday morning.

Each student is responsible for transportation to and from The Ranch of The Rockies

SUPPLIED AT THE RETREAT:  
Dyeing chemicals and materials, silk screens, painting materials, soy wax, sewing machines,
Plants – leaves, flowers, and berries
Tiles – (6 x 6)
Dowels – ¾” to 1” wooden dowels
 Railroad spikes
 Metal rebar
3-4 plastic shoe boxes
STUDENT SUPPLY LIST:
Paper – watercolor papers, premium photocopy papers (with images printed on – optional)
Fabrics –  silk, wool, linen, cotton (no synthetic fabrics)
Several of your favorite color paints
Paint brushes
Thermofax screens, stencils, stamps, paint brush (optional)
Rubber bands
Cotton twine
Sketchbook
Spray bottle
Embellishment materials:
fabrics, Paints/paint brushes (just one or two), Tea bags,  Stamps, Stencils, Lace, Small rocks, Small sticks, Found objects
Binding material:
Size 16 & 18 large needles, Awl or ice pick, Card board or artist board for making a hard cover, Hole punch, Hand stitching tools
